I have had the same experience as Ibe Kikuo, the developer who is said to be the father of G-SHOCK.
When Mr. Ibe became a member of society and was walking around the company.
He collided with a person and caused the mechanical wristwatch that his father gave him to fall and broke into pieces.
From this experience, he decided to make a wristwatch that would not break even if it fell, which led to G-SHOCK.
Next is my experience.
Actually, when I became an adult, the watch I got as a gift for my parents was a self-winding mechanical watch. I remember being very happy that the red color of the watch was cool.
However, I broke this watch and it didn’t work twice. When I became a member of society, I wanted a watch that wouldn’t break.
I wasn’t very familiar with G-SHOCK. But when I was looking at my watch at a watchmaker, I saw the phrase “Unbreakable watch G-SHOCK”.
And among them, the square G-SHOCK DW-5600E was very drawn.
The reason is simple. The functional beauty of the watch and I remembered the thin Casio watch, I had when I was a kid.
It must have been Cheap Casio now. A design that somehow brings back those memories, yet it is rugged and strong.
